Mittens and Coughs

Something wonderful has happened. I saw an ear/nose/and throat specialist (Dr. Cannon-awesome doctor) a couple weeks ago. He scheduled a CT scan for my sinuses, which I had last week. His nurse called me Friday with news. I have an infection deep in my sinuses, and this is what has been causing my cough! I am gobsmacked! He prescribed an antibiotic, and some very strong doses of Prednisone. It's working. I'm still coughing some, but it's massively reduced.

I'm also a bit angry. I have been walking around with this infection for over 3 years. It has steadily been degrading my quality of life for way too long. I never had a fever, so no one tested for that possibility. Sweet Hubby wants to sue someone.

I've learned quite a bit from this experience. Demand imaging when you've got a cough that won't go away. Be your best patient advocate cuz the medical industry doesn't.

I've also been dealing with ever increasing joint pain for the past year. I've been waking up every morning to hands that ache so bad I've wondered if my knitting days are numbered. I was thinking about getting tested for arthritis. That is going away too.

I have good news.

I have finished a pair of mittens. I took these pics with my phone, while sitting in my recliner, so not the best.

Comments: I enjoyed knitting these. They have an interesting way of doing the thumb too. It involves waste yarn. I'm making more of these for KnitWits.

I love the inside and thumb stitch patterns.

Close up of thumb.

Close up of inside pattern. Notice the vertical brown stripe on the side. It's actually on both sides. It hides the little jog when changing to the next row.

I am done with the body of the current baby cardigan. I steam blocked it on my ironing board. It's wrong side up in this photo. The front has polka dots and stripes.

I have since then put the shoulders together. I decided I'm going to try knitting the sleeves by picking up stitches around the arm hole and knitting toward the cuff. Instructions have it being cast on, knitted flat, and sewn on accordingly. Just want to figure it out.

The weather today is gorgeous. It's been rather rainy the last 3 days, which I welcomed because it's been a pretty dry spring. We're talking drought dry.

Going camping over Memorial Day weekend. Going with my husbands twin and his wife, as usual. We're going some place different that we've never been before. I don't need to worry about who's taking care of the cats while gone because daughter Ruth is not going with us. We are taking Zoey. I wouldn't deprive my dog of a camping opportunity. She loves camping.

So, that's it for this post.

Live long and prosper. \\//
