I Love My Camera Revisited

One day last week, around 2 am, I was reading through some old blog posts, because I couldn't sleep. I noticed I mentioned "I love my camera" a lot for awhile there. I remember that camera. It was the Sony Cybershot DSC-H3 8.1 megabyte with  10X Zoom. I bought it after my Sony Mavica. I don't remember why I got rid of the Mavica (Sold it in a yard sale). It was kind of cool. It wrote the photos on one of those little 2.5 inch CD's. I suspect it was because that size CD was no longer a viable media for the camera.

Anyway, back to the H3, it was the best camera I've ever had. Took amazing pictures and I rarely didn't use Autoshot. Especially in low light situations, and the macro was awesome! It used the Sony Duo Pro smart card, which was a bit annoying because the card needed adapters to fit them in a computer SD card slot. I loved it, just the same. One day, I'd left it on the dining room table. I was walking by and accidentally knocked it off. It hit the floor and broke, inside. It would not work anymore. I actually cried. I took it to a local camera repair place and they figured out what broke and it was going to cost more than buying a new camera would. So, sadly, I had to let it go.

While reading the blog posts, the thought entered my mind "I wonder if that camera is still available?" I went looking for it. I found it on Amazon. Used ones were available, for cheap. I think I paid close to $300 when I bought the original. It was $79 last week. I checked Ebay too. Lots of them available for prices from $15 to $200. Most in the $30-$40 range. I decided to get one because I still long for that camera. I bought the one on Amazon because I wasn't real confident in the Ebay ones. It came with a 2 gb Duo Pro card, card adapter, charger, and a battery. Everything else that used to come with it wasn't included, like power cord, camera to computer usb cord, etc. I ordered an extra battery too. Today I ordered a 16 gb card for it.

It arrived yesterday. It's in beautiful condition. Looks almost brand new. I charged up the batteries and used it today. I was trying to transfer the pics I took to the laptop for a blog post I have planned, but I can't. The Duo Pro cards are not compatible with the standard SD card slot, and the adapter didn't fit either, much to my surprise. I called for help and sweet hubby stepped in. He figured out what to do and has ordered an adapter for me. It'll be over a week before it gets here though.

We both searched for a replacement camera-to-computer USB cord. It's available, but the software I need to use it is not supported beyond Windows Vista. So no point getting that.

I dug around in my camera stuff and found a Duo-Pro adapter for the mini-SD cards. I got one, along with a 16gb mini card as a Christmas present a few years back. I'm going to use that for now. It will be easy to get the pictures into my computer with it. I'm trying to decide if I want to retake the pics, or wait for the new adapter. I guess it will depend on how busy I am.

I know that somewhere around here, the old camera with all it's accoutrements is stored. If I find it, I'll have the cords, and 3 more batteries. In the meantime, I am sooooooooo HAPPY!!!!
