WIP Wednesday 8/1/2012

We went camping. I had fun on our week long camping trip. It was relaxing. I spent most of my time on a warm sandy beach reading, swimming, playing with my dog, and getting a nice tan. The weather was perfect. The food was awesome. The park was beautiful.

Cable learned how to swim, thanks to Tripper teaching her. She loves the water, which I expected. I tried to teach her to swim out and fetch a stick but she was unwilling to swim more than a few feet from shore. Tripper, on the other hand, loves to swim out for sticks. He gets quite excited.

I knitted a lot, mostly in the morning sitting around the campfire waiting for everyone else to get up and get breakfast started. I finished the Butterfly Wings shawl.

I also got all but one sleeve done on the aran baby sweater.

I took pictures of wild flowers too. There were lots in bloom that were new, and familiar, to me. I even found a wild orchid. I will post those pictures at a later date.

Now, about the Ravellenic games. They started while we were on our trip. I managed to forget to pack that project. Not to worry, I had to return home on Monday for a very important fair planning meeting so I stopped by the house and grabbed the bag said project was in.

Starting time for the games was 7:30 pm on Friday-the time the opening ceremonies were being shown on tv. So just before 7:30 I went to the trailer, grabbed my bag, and set myself up comfortably by the campfire. It was 7:30! Hurray! I took out the yarn, needles, but...wait. DARN IT!!! The pattern was at home on the dining room table, waiting for me to put it in the bag. Sigh. No cast on for me. After banging myself on the head with the cone of yarn for a bit, I put it away in the trailer and did something else.

I actually didn't get to start the project until after we got home, on Sunday morning. I'd recorded the opening ceremonies and we watched it Saturday night, but I was so tired I couldn't hardly focus on the tv let alone on lace weight yarn stitches.

If you'll remember, I'm making the Beehive Stole by Anne Hanson. It is going rather slow at the moment. Could be because I have band aids all over my fingers (I managed to cut myself a few times on the trip). They kind of slow things down. I hope I can pick up the pace because I've got to have this done by the end of the OlympicsTM. I am beginning to think I've taken on too much. So much is going on in my life right now, like: Fair planning and doing, we're having a yard sale in 2 weeks, my daughter Sarah is coming to visit (YAY!) later this week plus all the regular stuff thats happening in my week such as Knit Wits, a hair cut, Yarnies, grocery shopping, house cleaning, laundry, etc. I will get as much of the shawl knit as I can and not stress over it (haha! I crack myself up.)

I end this with a picture of Cable in a creek in the forest north of Upper Priest Lake.
