Blogoversary One

One year ago today I started this blog. That makes today my Blogoversary.

When I started this blog I had something much different in mind than what it ended up being. Here's what I said in my first post:

I've decided to join the rest of the world and blab about myself publicly. Mostly, I just want a place where I can store pictures of my beading, knitting, and cross stitch projects, and anything else that grabs my fancy. Kind of a scrap book of sorts.

I didn't expect to do much with this blog. I was gonna use it mostly as a notebook to keep track of my projects (kind of like what I do on Ravelry). I'd started one a year earlier and it didn't last a month. However, that year I was in mourning over the loss of my shop and everything I wrote was so depressing I didn't like reading it myself. I deleted it and got about the business of putting my life back together.

Then I got the idea to use a blog as a scrapbook for my projects. It ended up being more like a diary or journal, which, in the end, doesn't surprise me because from the time I was a child until just before I had children I used to keep a journal.

In the end I find I really enjoy keeping a blog, and I've met some really nice people through it, which I totally didn't expect. All in all, it's been a fun thing, so I shall continue.

In honor of my Blogoversary I've decided to hold my very first blog contest. Here is the prize. Purple is my favorite color, so the prize has a purple theme.

It consists of the following:

1) One skein of On Line Linie 3 Supersocke 100 in the pink and purple Highland colorway. This is a fingering weight sock yarn made of 75% superwash wool and 25% Nylon. There is 450 yards in this 100 gram skein.

2) One 4oz. jar of genuine Idaho Wild Huckleberry jam. I live in north Idaho. We are famous for our wild Huckleberries.

3) One 4.5oz bar of genuine sinfully delicious Idaho Wild Huckleberry chocolate. (Do you know how hard it is for me to NOT eat this myself?)

4) A package of 6 beaded stitch markers made by me. They will fit up to a size 11 needle. Here's a close up pic.

Is that a great prize or what?

The rules:

Contest entries will be accepted from now until 5pm pacific time Friday March 7. To enter leave a comment in this post. ONE comment per person.

On Friday I will write down the screen names of everyone who has entered on little pieces of paper and my daughter will draw the winning name from a hat (probably Sweet Hubby's leather cowboy hat).

I'll announce the winner on Saturday, March 8.

Have a great day!

ETA:
Someone has posted a comment for the Contest Anonymously. I don't mind if you do that, but if you don't put your name in the comment somewhere I can't tell who you are. Therefore, all Anonymous entries without a name somewhere within the comment itself will not be eligible for the contest. If you don't have enough courage to say who you are, you are too chicken to win.

  2. Happy Blogoversary!

I also got to meet a nice person because of your blogging - you! Your blog is one of my very favorites.

Blogs do take on a life of their own once they get started. Before I started blogging I read in a blogging howto book: "Just start writing. You'll find your voice." And sure enough, that's what happens.

I totally enjoy visiting your blog, seeing your gorgeous projects, and laughing at your animal adventures from cats to moose.

How many times will you eat and replace that Wild Huckleberry chocolate before sending off the prize box? Or do you have better will power than I do?

  4. Happy Blogiversary! I'm glad that after some false starts you stuck with it...I love seeing your beaded creations--they are amazing!

The colors in that skein are beautiful! And huckleberries, oh my! I remember my first taste when I moved out here...a fresh baked huckleberry pie from a little store about 40 miles east of Moscow, Idaho. It was heaven!
