Marigolds

Taken during a break between downpours yesterday.




Have you ever looked at a Marigold really close up? I hadn't until I took these pics.



I never realized how they're constructed before.



The top part is a bunch of little tiny five petal flowers.



Each bunch is sitting on a ring of larger petals.



Fascinating!
